I have been a professional artist for many years, studying in Hampshire and in Glasgow, originally working as a textile designer, before demand grew and I made the decision to concentrate my work solely on painting.
Exhibiting extensively across the UK, including several sold-out exhibitions, I am very pleased to have many
collectors who love my work - including celebrities, politicians, and companies; together with customers in the USA,
across Europe, and in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Design and art work has been commissioned and purchased by - among others - The National Trust for Scotland,
Glasgow Galleries and Museums, Scottish Tourist Board, the Edinburgh Festival Company, and for castles, hotels,
company offices, and for private collectors around the world.
Selected as one of 12 artists for the Scottish Artists Gallery at the John Lewis store in Glasgow.
Gallery exhibitions include several in Glasgow, plus Helensburgh, Ayrshire, Stirling, Perthshire,
Yorkshire, Lancashire, Bristol, etc.
My art has been featured often in various magazines and newspapers, including commissioned artwork, and I have several times
been described as 'one of the modern Scottish colourists.'
As well as taking part in numerous art fairs, events and exhibitions all over the UK, I have organised and run successful
art and design events, designed and managed pop-up galleries, and as a small business owner have taken part in the EU Conference of Entrepreneurs/SME's in Brussels, as a delegate and invited speaker as part of the group from Strathclyde University.
With over 30 years experience in the field of art and crafts, I now use my extensive and hands-on knowledge working as a business consultant to the crafts industry. Running intensive workshops plus complete online courses, mentoring, supporting and teaching people wanting to turn their hobby into a viable business, and working with existing small businesses who want to expand.
I am also devising new workshops for use with Business Gateway across Scotland.
New website: Creativity Business Academy; facebook group; plus course bookings, launches September - email for advance details.
Working in my studio nearly every day, I paint mainly in acrylics and mixed media, sometimes oils, with some on canvas and others on heavyweight paper. I work by building up many layers and fine glazes of colour, often using collage pieces, inks, oil pastel, plus my signature use of gold, copper and various texture media, so all my paintings are infused with light and glowing colours.
This is the main reason why - despite numerous requests over the years - I will never allow prints, cards or any reproductions of my work. All my paintings have texture, glowing colours, subtle shifts of light and shade which would all be lost in a print - it also means every customer has a unique and one-of-a-kind painting, which is one of the great pleasures of owning an original piece of art - why have a cheap paper copy when you can have a one-off original, full of life!
I am inspired by the light and ever-changing scenery around me here in Scotland, as well as the warm shades of
Tuscany and the Mediterranean, and I continually experiment with ideas and different techniques, developing new work.
I live by the sea, surrounded by hills, lochs and mountains, and wonderful islands from Arran to the Hebrides and beyond.
Added to that, just playing around with a variety of paints and texture medium, collaging paper and fabric,
mixing pure pigments and gold leaf, splashing and layering colour, is a wonderful way to earn a living!
New paintings are regularly added to the 'new work for sale' page, and you can follow me on facebook (Pamela Randal Fine Art)
